Sunday 9 Mile Run

Whoa! That was a long run yesterday. Actually, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We took walk breaks at every mile and I hate to admit it, but I think it helped a lot. My left knee hurt just a little bit in the middle of the run, but today it feels fine. In fact, I really enjoyed it. After 9 miles, I really felt like I had accomplished something.

I forgot to reset my watch before we started out, so I just reset it at the 1 mile mark. That's why it looks like we started at Armstrong when we actually started at my house.

We stashed some water bottles in some bushes at the 5 mile mark before we started. We picked them up and sipped as we ran on. I dumped mine in some other bushes after a couple of miles though. The weight and bulk of holding the bottle just got on my nerves and messed with my stride. I'd really think I'd like to get a Fuel Belt, but at $35 the darn things are just too expensive. Maybe I can find one on Ebay. But, in all likelyhood, I'll probably just keep stashing water bottles for a while.

After the run, I put Sarah to bed and took a shower. Then I filled up the tub with cold water and just soaked my legs for 20 to 30 minutes while I read my latest edition of Runner's World. Man that felt great. Sounds goofey, but my legs just felt so refreshed when I got out.

Well this week's schedule is 3 miles on Tuesday and Thursday, 5 miles on Wednesday and 10 miles on Sunday. I think we're gonna do the long run on Sunday again this weekend because I'm signed up to give blood Friday afternoon. I don't think it'd be too wise to give a pint of blood 12 hours before a long run, so Sunday afternoon is looking much better than Saturday morning right now.

Well, I better get ready for bed so I can get up early for tomorrow's run.

See ya!
