Saturday - Heart of Savannah 5k

I ran the YMCA Heart of Savannah 5k tonight. The start was kinda crowded. I should have gotten a position closer to the front, but I started a little over halfway back. I think it took 10 to 15 seconds for me to cross the start line. The street that it started on is narrow, so it took quite a while for the crowd to get moving and for me to get any room to pass folks. Once we got moving, I was feeling pretty good and running under 8 min/mile, and passing lots of people up to the 1 mile mark.

Since I have to run 9 miles tomorrow, I decided to take a few walk breaks. I walked at the 1 mile mark, the water table at 1.5 miles and at the 2 mile mark. I managed to re-pass most of the folks who would pass me each time. There was one lady in a blue shirt that I stayed with almost the whole time. She would pass me when I walked, but I would always catch back up. In the end I beat hear to the finish.

Well, tomorrow is 9 miles. I better get to bed soon and rest up.

See ya!
